A second cool, rainy, end of summer evening was spent in the historic and decommissioned St. Alphonse church. Day two of the two day textured acrylic painting workshop with Dianne Mercredi of Yellowknife, NT, is now complete. Dianne is a talented artist and encouraging instructor. It was a fun and enjoyable workshop even if the results were less than expected - mainly due to the cool weather. The cool overnight temperature slowed the drying process. Bantering with the two other ladies, who are both accomplished artists, during the workshop added to the jovial atmosphere and made it all worth while. The best part of the workshop was the homemade chocolate chip cookies :)  Back to my preferred medium to capture the remnants of an earlier shower lit by the fading light of August 15, 2012. 

Silence interrupted ...

by the beating of dragon fly wings as they swooped in on their plentiful prey. The lake was unusually still and quiet for an August evening. 

Summer will soon give way to Fall with its cooler temperatures and shorter days. Migration and hibernation preparations will begin...but until then, there will be a few more ripples on 4 Mile Lake.

Ok, I am still testing out my blog, and figuring out how it works, and how to set the layout and colour schemes and customization.
